Here you can read a collection of my academic writing that applies a lot of jargon that most may not understand, especially those who are unable to tell the difference between different terms and their appropriate use. To better understand, here are some basic understanding of the differences between “research” and “publications”.
A research paper describes the output of research. If it is published in a Journal or conference, then it is a published research paper, or a publication. "Research paper" refers to empirical research, which showcases new findings as opposed to conceptual article which is only theoretical or a literature review paper which surveys a scoped topic or an advocacy paper where you call for a change. These are all different types of papers.
So yes, publication is a big term for all published works and includes any type of paper, and the research paper is a specific type of work that involves original research.
So it's possible to write a conference research paper, or a research paper for your school assignment, but so long it's not published, you don't call it a publication.
Titles of my publications are included here while PDF copies may be obtained by contacting me. It could be a research paper, a poem, an essay or even an article, or which can also be an output of research. It could be published or not. While you can get research papers from writing sites such and you would not be able to get publications from the same. The latter are available in journals and other literary sources such as libraries. These research papers to be published, it has to be of a high standard and it has met the minimum requirements of any publishing platform and academic body. The key is to conduct the research as thoroughly as possible and then present the results in a simple and understandable manner that shall look more impressive to make the paper as it is complicated as possible but that locks out those who are not gurus in the area of study which ultimately renders the paper unhelpful as a resource in the field except for those who already have a grasp of the other concepts in the same field.
I have also included here a list of my unpublished textbooks. Nevertheless, a publication is defined as anything that has been published: a book. a research paper, a news article.
